Privacy Notice

ELTPros is a job board and professional community for English teachers. It is built and run by Gaudi Rodríguez, an individual based in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic — not a company. When this notice says “we”, that is who it means, and that is who answers for your information.

Almost everything here is something you typed in yourself, and almost all of it is optional. The only information ELTPros cannot work without is an email address and a name.

To run the service you asked for, and for nothing else. In practice that means:

• Showing your profile to the people you have chosen to show it to, and letting you apply to vacancies.
• Letting employers publish vacancies, read the applications they receive, and answer them.
• Matching what you are looking for against what is posted — filters, searches and, if you set one up, job alerts.
• Telling you things you need to know: a decision on an application, an approval, an account or security matter.
• Keeping the platform honest — reviewing a new organisation's first vacancy, handling reports, removing scams and fake listings.
• Understanding in aggregate what is being used and what is not, so the next thing built is the thing people need.

We do not sell your information, we do not rent it, and we do not hand it to anyone for advertising. There is no advertising on ELTPros.

The legal grounds for all of this, in the language of Dominican Law 172-13 and of data protection law generally, are: your consent, where you gave it and can take it back; the agreement between us, which is what lets us run your account and deliver your applications; our legitimate interest in keeping the platform safe and working; and legal obligation, where a law requires us to keep or produce something.

This is the part that matters most, because many of the teachers using ELTPros already have a job and are looking quietly. These rules are enforced by the database, not by the screens — so they hold even for anyone poking at the interface.

ELTPros is a small operation standing on a few other services. Each one below handles your data only to provide its part of the service, and none of them may use it for their own purposes.

Beyond those, we would disclose information only where a Dominican court or a law obliges us to, or where it is genuinely necessary to protect somebody from harm. If ELTPros is ever transferred to a company or another operator, you will be told before your data moves, and this notice will continue to apply until you are told otherwise.

ELTPros sets the cookies it needs to keep you signed in, and nothing else. There are no advertising cookies, no tracking pixels and no third-party analytics on this site.

That is a statement about how it works today, not a promise never to measure anything. If we add analytics, this notice will say so before the code ships, and anything that is not strictly necessary will ask you first.

• Your account, profile and uploads: for as long as you keep the account. Delete it and they go.
• Applications: kept while the vacancy is live and afterwards as the record of what was sent and what was answered — it protects you as much as the employer. Withdrawing an application marks it withdrawn; it does not rewrite what you submitted.
• Community posts and comments: they stay up after you delete your account unless you ask us to remove them, because deleting one side of a conversation makes the rest unreadable. Ask, and we will remove them.
• Administrator and moderation logs: kept for two years, so a decision can still be explained.
• Technical logs at our hosting provider: days, not months.

Dominican Law 172-13 on the protection of personal data gives you the right to know what we hold, to correct it, to have it deleted, and to object to how it is used. We extend the same rights to everyone using ELTPros, wherever they live, and add two more:

• Access — a copy of everything we hold about you.
• Correction — most of it you can fix yourself in your profile; write to us for the rest.
• Deletion — your account and its contents, subject to the records described above.
• Portability — your profile and applications in a machine-readable file.
• Objection — tell us to stop a particular use, including all optional email.
• Withdrawing consent — at any time, without having to explain. It does not undo what was already done with your consent.

Write to privacy@eltpros.com from the address on your account. We answer within 30 days, and sooner where the law requires it. Exercising any of these costs nothing.

If you think we have handled your data badly, tell us first — it is the fastest route to a fix. You are also free to take the matter to the Dominican courts, or to the data protection authority with jurisdiction where you live.

• Every table in the database has row-level security switched on, so permissions are enforced by the database rather than by the screens. Anything enforced only in the interface can be worked around; this cannot.
• CVs and uploaded credentials live in private storage. Photos and organisation logos are public files, because they are meant to be seen.
• All traffic is encrypted in transit.
• We never store your password in a readable form, and nobody at ELTPros can look it up.

None of that makes any service perfectly secure, and it would be dishonest to imply otherwise. If a breach ever affects your data, we will tell you what happened, what was exposed and what to do about it — promptly, and without waiting to be asked.

ELTPros is for working professionals and is not intended for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from minors. If you believe a minor has created an account, write to privacy@eltpros.com and it will be removed.

ELTPros is built in Santo Domingo, but the services it runs on keep their servers abroad, principally in the United States. Your information is therefore stored and processed outside the Dominican Republic, under contracts that require those providers to protect it and to use it only on our instructions. Using ELTPros means accepting that transfer.

The date at the top changes whenever this notice does. For a change that affects what we collect, who can see it, or what we do with it, we will email you and show a notice when you next sign in, before it takes effect — not quietly on a page nobody revisits.
